The mops also use an advanced system for cleaning around the edges of furniture and walls. The robot is able to effortlessly avoid obstacles such as toys, food bowls and backpacks. It is able to get tangled or get stuck with smaller, flatter objects like shoelaces and USB cable, and pens.

We used this robot to clean and mop a variety of pile rugs, FLOR carpet tiles and hardwood floors within an open, large floor plan. It was able to vacuum and mop the 90 square meters in 170 minutes, with FREO Mind enabled. This is a bit more than average for Gen 4 robots.

Miele Scout RX3

Miele is not a slouche in the world of robotic vacuuming and has a reputation for quality and technological innovation. The new Miele robot is designed to take cleaning capabilities to a new level, with its smart features.

The RX3 features a dual suction system smart navigation system that incorporates 3D mapping, and a camera that transmits a live image to your smartphone for easy control. The powerful four-stage cleaning system ensures excellent dust removal on carpet and hard floors, while intuitive swing-out side brushes and dual suction channels remove dust from corners. Its 8.5 cm height lets it reach under low furniture. Front cameras and infrared sensor aid in navigating obstacles, thresholds, and obstacles with ease.

In our test of how well it cleaned baking soda close to corners and on baseboards the Scout RX3 was impressive. Its suction power of 2,500Pa was a little weaker than some other robots, but it was able to move quickly and was quiet. It didn't mop and its cleaning pad that was removable was a challenge to attach. It also wasn't able to take on dirt that had dried up.

Its app isn't equipped with advanced features like multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It does support Alexa however, its voice controls aren't particularly precise or responsive. Also, it's a bit flaky when it comes to getting back to the charging station after a run other robots are able to follow a previous route or follow a wall around until they get to their home however the RX3 is a fumbler until it gives up and sends a failure message to your phone.

We also experienced issues with the intelligent features of the device, such as its mapping feature and the digital stay-out zones. While it did a decent job of avoiding our furniture legs and shoes but it could easily be stuck by cables and socks, and was unable to handle the tassels of carpets. That's why we chose not to include it in our Best Buy list. The Scout RX3 offers a good price and a dazzling performance. It's worth considering as an alternative to uprights that are traditionally used.
